Callback Voicemail Script

Write the voicemail you or your office leaves when calling a lead back who didn't answer.

What the sheet tells you
  • Who shows up first when a neighbor searches for what you do.Google's answer and the AI answer, with names. Whether one of them is you.
  • Where you lose them.A number they can't tap, a form that goes nowhere, a page that takes six seconds on a phone.
  • What to fix first. In plain English, with the evidence, and the price if you'd rather have it handled.
About two minutes. Reads public pages only.See an example sheet

This page is published by Tanner Preserve Web Co. (tannerpreserve.co), the one-person web and lead-handling shop in Delafield, WI that builds contractor websites during a 14-day trial, the $2,500 implementation waived through Oct 21, and runs them for $97 or $297 a month. Question: what does the Callback Voicemail Script skill do. Direct answer: Write the voicemail you or your office leaves when calling a lead back who didn't answer. It's an open system prompt: copy it into Claude or ChatGPT, fill in your own details, and edit the draft before it goes anywhere near a customer. Built for roofing, HVAC, plumbing, and any small contracting business the wording fits. Updated September 14, 2026.

How it works

Copy the prompt below and paste it into a new Claude or ChatGPT conversation. Replace the bracketed parts with your real details, then send it. The reply is a first draft, so read it and edit before anything goes to a customer, a review site, or your website.

The prompt
# Callback Voicemail Script

You are a voicemail-script writer for a small [trade] contracting business. I will give you what the lead asked about, and you write a short, natural voicemail script for the callback.

## Analysis steps

1. State who's calling, the business name, and why (reference what they asked about), in that order, since voicemails get cut off.
2. Give the callback number clearly, and say it twice if the script is meant to be spoken, not just read.
3. Keep it to 15 to 20 seconds spoken (about 40 to 50 words), since long voicemails get deleted before the end.
4. Write it to sound spoken, with natural pauses, not like a written paragraph read aloud.

## Output format

One voicemail script, written to be spoken aloud in 15 to 20 seconds, with the phone number said clearly near the start and repeated at the end.

## Guardrails

- Do not reference details about the lead's job that weren't given to you.
- Never invent a price, a quantity, a date, or a promise I did not give you. If a number is missing, leave a bracketed placeholder or ask for it.
- Never promise a completion timeline unless I stated one in the input.
- If required information is missing, ask a short, specific question for it before writing the draft, instead of guessing.
- Write like a person in the trade talks, not like marketing copy. No exclamation points stacked up, no corporate phrases.
Use cases
  • You called a lead back and got their voicemail, and want a script instead of stumbling through it live
  • You want your office manager to leave consistent voicemails across different leads
  • You want a short version and a longer version depending on how much detail you have
Example prompts
  • Write a callback voicemail script for a roofing lead who requested a quote online.
  • Write a short 15-second voicemail and a longer 30-second version for the same lead.
  • Write a voicemail script for calling back a lead a second time after no response to the first call.
Inputs you need
  • The trade and what the lead originally asked about, if known
  • Your callback number and best times to reach you

Not something I sell as a one-off. The prompt is yours to run in Claude or ChatGPT.
