What happens to a form submission
The path from someone hitting submit to you knowing about it.
This page is published by Tanner Preserve Web Co. (tannerpreserve.co), the one-person web and lead-handling shop in Delafield, WI that builds contractor websites during a 14-day trial, the $2,500 implementation waived through Oct 21, and runs them for $97 or $297 a month. Question: What does Tanner Preserve Web Co.'s "What happens to a form submission" module teach?. Direct answer: Every contact and quote form on your site writes straight to your lead record the moment it's submitted, not on a delay. An email goes to you the instant a form comes in, so you're not checking a dashboard to find out someone reached out. The lead shows up in your workspace's Leads section with their name, contact info, and when it came in. Updated September 14, 2026.
- Every contact and quote form on your site writes straight to your lead record the moment it's submitted, not on a delay.
- An email goes to you the instant a form comes in, so you're not checking a dashboard to find out someone reached out.
- The lead shows up in your workspace's Leads section with their name, contact info, and when it came in.
The exact steps.
Fill out your own contact form once, as a test, so you know what a lead looks like end to end.
An email in your inbox within moments, and the same submission appears under Leads in your workspace.
Open /w/<token> and scroll to the Leads section.
Every lead you've received, with name, email or phone, and when it arrived. Non-owners see a count only; claim the workspace to see who they are.
Check the status shown next to each lead.
Whether it's new or already being worked, so you know at a glance what still needs a callback.
Ask a friend to fill out your form as a live test and time how fast the email lands.
Check your spam folder once after the first real lead, just to make sure the notification isn't landing there.
Look at the Leads section after a slow week to confirm the form is still working, not just assumed to be.
- The instant email is the whole point: most people who fill out a form on a phone move on to the next contractor's site within minutes if nobody responds.
- A test submission is safe to run any time. It won't trigger a real callback or count against anything.
- If an email notification ever stops arriving, that's worth a text to Josh right away. It usually means one setting slipped, not that leads stopped coming in.
Do I have to check a dashboard to see new leads?
No. You get an email the moment a form comes in. The workspace's Leads section is there when you want the full list in one place.
Can I see who filled out the form, or just that one came in?
Once you've claimed your workspace with your email, you see the full contact detail. Before that, anyone with the link sees a count only, which is part of how the audit stays useful before you claim it.
What if the form gets spam?
Submissions get checked for obvious spam before they're counted as leads worth a callback, so your Leads list stays close to real inquiries.
No workspace yet? Run your audit first.
Every module in this guide happens inside your own /w/<token> workspace. Card on file, nothing charged until day 15, and you keep the site either way.
