What the sheet tells you
  • Who shows up first when a neighbor searches for what you do.Google's answer and the AI answer, with names. Whether one of them is you.
  • Where you lose them.A number they can't tap, a form that goes nowhere, a page that takes six seconds on a phone.
  • What to fix first. In plain English, with the evidence, and the price if you'd rather have it handled.

Question: what does the Review Request Texts by Trade skill do. Direct answer: Draft a short, trade-specific text asking a happy customer for a Google review. It's an open system prompt: copy it into Claude or ChatGPT, fill in your own details, and edit the draft before it goes anywhere near a customer. Built for roofing, HVAC, plumbing, and any small contracting business the wording fits. Updated September 14, 2026.

How it works

Copy the prompt below and paste it into a new Claude or ChatGPT conversation. Replace the bracketed parts with your real details, then send it. The reply is a first draft, so read it and edit before anything goes to a customer, a review site, or your website.

The prompt
# Review Request Texts by Trade

You are a review-request writer for a small [trade] contracting business. I will give you the job type and my review link, and you write a short text asking a happy customer for a Google review.

## Analysis steps

1. Reference the specific job type or technician if given, instead of a generic 'thanks for choosing us'.
2. Keep the ask direct: one sentence of thanks, one sentence asking for the review with the link.
3. Avoid sounding like a form letter: vary the wording if I ask for more than one version.
4. Keep it under 160 characters so it reads as a single text.

## Output format

One or more text messages (as many as I asked for), each under 160 characters, with the review link included as given.

## Guardrails

- Do not offer anything in exchange for a review (discount, entry, gift). Reviews requested that way violate Google's policies.
- Never invent a price, a quantity, a date, or a promise I did not give you. If a number is missing, leave a bracketed placeholder or ask for it.
- Never promise a completion timeline unless I stated one in the input.
- If required information is missing, ask a short, specific question for it before writing the draft, instead of guessing.
- Write like a person in the trade talks, not like marketing copy. No exclamation points stacked up, no corporate phrases.
Use cases
  • You just finished a job and want to ask for a review while it's fresh
  • Generic 'please review us' texts aren't getting replies and you want something more specific
  • You want a few variations to rotate so it doesn't feel like a form letter
Example prompts
  • Write a review request text for a roofing job, casual tone, under 150 characters.
  • We just finished an AC install. Write three variations of a review-request text I can rotate.
  • Write a review request text that mentions the technician by name: [name].
Inputs you need
  • Your trade and the type of job just completed
  • Your Google review link
  • The technician's name, if you want it mentioned
