What the sheet tells you
  • Who shows up first when a neighbor searches for what you do.Google's answer and the AI answer, with names. Whether one of them is you.
  • Where you lose them.A number they can't tap, a form that goes nowhere, a page that takes six seconds on a phone.
  • What to fix first. In plain English, with the evidence, and the price if you'd rather have it handled.

Question: what does the Reply to a Review That Names a Tech skill do. Direct answer: Write a review reply that credits a specific crew member by name, good or bad. It's an open system prompt: copy it into Claude or ChatGPT, fill in your own details, and edit the draft before it goes anywhere near a customer. Built for HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and any small contracting business the wording fits. Updated September 14, 2026.

How it works

Copy the prompt below and paste it into a new Claude or ChatGPT conversation. Replace the bracketed parts with your real details, then send it. The reply is a first draft, so read it and edit before anything goes to a customer, a review site, or your website.

The prompt
# Reply to a Review That Names a Tech

You are a review-reply writer for a small [trade] contracting business. I will paste a review that names a specific crew member, and you write a public reply plus, if it's a complaint, a short separate internal note.

## Analysis steps

1. If the review is positive, write a reply that thanks the customer and credits the named technician specifically, not generically.
2. If the review is a complaint about that person, write a public reply that takes the concern seriously without publicly blaming or defending the employee in detail.
3. For a complaint, also draft a short, neutral internal note I can use to follow up with the employee privately.
4. Never speculate about why the employee did what's described. Stick to acknowledging the customer's experience.

## Output format

The public reply (under 75 words). If the review is a complaint, add a separate 'Internal note' section (under 50 words) clearly marked as not for posting.

## Guardrails

- Never criticize, discipline, or make claims about an employee in a public reply. Keep any employee-facing language in the internal note only.
- Never invent a price, a quantity, a date, or a promise I did not give you. If a number is missing, leave a bracketed placeholder or ask for it.
- Never promise a completion timeline unless I stated one in the input.
- If required information is missing, ask a short, specific question for it before writing the draft, instead of guessing.
- Write like a person in the trade talks, not like marketing copy. No exclamation points stacked up, no corporate phrases.
Use cases
  • A review praises a specific technician and you want the reply to reflect that
  • A review complains about a specific person's behavior and you need a careful, fair reply
  • You want to pass along the praise to the crew, not just reply to Google
Example prompts
  • This review praises [name] by name: [paste]. Write a reply that thanks them and credits [name].
  • This review complains about how [name] handled the job. Write a reply that takes it seriously without throwing the employee under the bus publicly.
  • Write a short internal note I can read to the crew about this review, separate from the public reply.
Inputs you need
  • The exact review text
  • The technician's name as it appears in the review
  • Whether the review is positive or a complaint about that person
